Hailing from Vosloorus on the East Rand, deejay and producer Kholile Elvin Gumede better known as DJ Clock drew inspiration from the legendary Glen Lewis, Vinny Da Vinci and DJ Fresh.

In his teens, his love for music and DJing was re-ignited when he discovered a school in Rosebank that offered production and DJing lessons for free. That marked what would turn out to be the training of a musical pioneer. 2007 proved to be his break out year into the music industry.

His first major work was alongside DJ Ganyani on his Ganyani’s House Grooves series on which he contributed with "Chynaman in Africa". His friendship with Durban-born DJ Njabs led to him working alongside some of the country’s heavy weights including Durban’s Finest, he produced Big Nuz’s 2008 hit track “Ubala”.

In the same year, the then 20-year-old DJ Clock released his debut album The First Tick which earned him two SAMA nominations in 2009. He released his second album The Second Tick (2009) which spawned a hit song in the Manhattans’ sampled “Kiss and Say Goodbye”. Since then he has gone on to release the albums The Third Tick (2010), DJ Clock's Footsteps (a limited edition album showcasing songs he had created with other labels), the Fourth Tick which includes the chart topping single “Pluto (Remember you)” featuring Beatenberg.
