Does Big Brother Mzansi Rival Big Brother Africa?

Big Brother Mzansi (BBM): Double Trouble was on Sunday evening launched on an epic note following the introduction of the gossip corner which gave viewers an inside scoop on the housemates.

The gossip corner which featured South Africa’s stylish and outspoken radio and TV personalities Kuli Roberts and Dineo Ranaka saw the two gossip queens spicing up the BBM launch – which promises to be a better show than Big Brother Africa (BBA).

They dished out all the dirt on the unsuspecting housemates as they made their way onto the Big Brother Mzansi stage. Being an outspoken duo, the ladies did not hold back on giving TV viewers the inside scoop on the new housemates.

With R2 million up for grabs, the launch show saw housemates entering the BBM house in pairs. Some preferred to enter as friends, siblings, cousins and lovers while some bumped into their ex-lovers at the audition venues and entered with them.

Just after stepping off the BBM stage, Biggie’s gossip queens were already dissecting lovers Bongi and Khali.

“Oh she’s thick, u-fit, upakile,” Dineo said as Kuli stared right into her eyes in agreement.

On Soxx and Bexx, the gossip queens felt that the cousins could end up getting jealous when the other finds love in the house.

But, the night belonged to the last couple to enter the BBM house, Ace and Ntombi. The self-proclaimed soul mates who have been together for the past five years could not contain their excitement of being in the BBM house. Excitedly walking towards BBM host Lungile Radu on the Big Brother stage, Ace and his better half screamed how ecstatic they were.

Dineo and Kuli immediately took a dig at the hype couple which did not give Lungile an opportunity to speak to them as they kept screaming and jumping on the stage.

“Abasaphaphi nje,” Dineo kept saying to Kuli, who looked equally stunned.

Viewers took to social networks to comment on Ace and Ntombi’s grand entrance with some suggesting that they would be the first to get evicted from the game.

In a statement, Mzansi Magic said since Double Trouble was a game with a dual theme, the prize money had been doubled to R2 million from R1 million for it to be shared out to the eventual double winners.

“This season, which promises to have many twists and turns has the added excitement of the game being played for the first time in pairs.”

Yesterday, fake nominations were conducted as there will be no eviction this week. Another launch show was held last night where 10 more housemates joined the game which will last for two months.

It remains to be seen how ex-lovers will handle being in close proximity to each other for a long time, if soul mates will still be close at the end of the show and how the sibling rivalry will play out.
